Inspired by his work as a 2019 DDCSP UM Scholar, Syed Hussain, a Wesleyan Junior, played a key role in coordinating the first-ever Middletown Urban Gardening Symposium. The two-day symposium, which happened earlier this month, focused on improving food justice in the area through workshops, seminars, tours, and more. Syed writes, “With this wide array of support, student coordinators were able to collaborate with local stakeholders to put together a conference that was able to bridge the gap between Wesleyan and the surrounding community, as well as to provide the space for connections between Wes sustainability groups.” To learn more about the symposium read this article and this blog written about the event. Good work, Syed!
