The YCS-ELI Difference


The following is provided to scholars:

  • Approximately $5,800 stipend for their internship and pre-program activities
  • ~$300 discretionary fund for personal expenses related to the program (attire, supplies, etc.)
  • Up to $1,500 housing, food, and travel stipend
  • Workshops on how to navigate the Graduate School process
  • Professional development workshops
  • Travel:
    • Costs of field trips covered
  • Professional development support (this may include travel to conferences and field site visits)
  • Support for some mentor-related expenses
  • Access and potential support for the New Horizons in Conservation Conference 

The New Horizons in Conservation Conference 

We cover the cost for Scholars to attend the New Horizons in Conservation Conference. The next conference is hybrid with the in-person component New Haven, Connecticut, from May 11-13, 2023. Newly selected scholars will be invited to attend. We also encourage program alumni to attend and make presentations. We cover the cost of attending the conference for alumni who make presentations or help to moderate sessions.
