The YCS-ELI Difference

Compensation

The following is provided to scholars:

  • Approximately $6,250 stipend for their internship and pre-program activities
  • ~$300 discretionary fund for personal expenses related to the program (attire, supplies, etc.)
  • Up to $2,650 housing, food, and travel supplement
  • Workshops on how to navigate the Graduate School process
  • Professional development workshops
  • Travel:
    • Costs of field trips covered
  • Professional development support (this may include travel to conferences and field site visits)
  • Support for some mentor-related expenses
  • Access and potential support for the New Horizons in Conservation Conference 

The New Horizons in Conservation Conference 

There is the opportunity for scholarships for Scholars to attend the New Horizons in Conservation Conference. The next conference is hybrid with the in-person component New Haven, Connecticut, from May 10-13, 2023. Newly selected scholars will be invited to attend. We also encourage program alumni to attend and make presentations.
