The YCS-ELI Difference

Compensation

The following is provided to scholars:

  • Approximately $7,000 stipend for their internship and pre-program activities
  • ~$300 discretionary fund for personal expenses related to the program (attire, supplies, etc.)
  • Up to $1,500 housing, food, and travel supplement
  • Workshops on how to navigate the Graduate School process
  • Professional development workshops
  • Travel:
    • Costs of field trips covered
  • Professional development support (this may include travel to conferences and field site visits)
  • Support for some mentor-related expenses
  • Access and potential support for the New Horizons in Conservation Conference 

The New Horizons in Conservation Convening

Scholars will attend the New Horizons in Conservation Conference. This year, the convening is open only to program participants and alumni and will take place in Washington, DC in late June.
