Mentoring

The DDCSP YSE Peer Mentor Program provides an opportunity for second-year Doris Duke Conservation Scholars to guide and support the incoming cohort as they undergo their first year as DDCSP YSE Scholars. Five peer mentors are selected each summer through a competitive application system. Each peer mentor receives an additional stipend of $750 that is disbursed in three months during summer.

The main duties of DDCSP YSE peer mentors include the following:

  • Hold a one-on-one check-in meeting with each of the five assigned mentees

  • Design group activities with the mentees

  • Attend mentor trainings and meetings with the Program Staff

  • Organize the fourth of July celebration for all scholars

  • Organize the Game Night
